This unit will enable student-teachers to teach ‘Community Development and Technology’ at Elementary, Lower Primary and Upper Primary levels. In Elementary, student-teachers will teach children to play an active role in helping to build their community by wise use and care of resources. In Lower Primary, they will teach children about the importance of technology in improving community life. In Upper Primary, student-teachers will prepare children for advanced aspects of technology in the community and secondary schools. As well as learning the relevant subject knowledge, student-teachers will learn how to plan, teach and assess the content in an interactive and stimulating environment at each level. Wherever possible learning should be practical and take place outside the classroom, in the real world. Technological skills will be an important feature in this unit. Where appropriate, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be used to support the teaching and learning in this unit.
