This unit will enable student teachers to teach various contemporary issues from a Christian perspective. The student teachers acquire in-depth knowledge about important contemporary issues embedded in the Melanesian culture and way of living, and discuss them in dialogue with the Christian principles and values. The student teachers will apply their learning skills to identify and understand various issues relevant today, make a critical evaluation of those issues and make an analysis of those issues from a Christian perspective. The unit is very relevant in relation to the program since the student teachers are to be able to handle different issues confidently in concrete situations as well as in classrooms, and appropriately guide the children in teaching them the Christian way of living.
